Things to Bring Fun Back to Your Workplace I

Fascinating and funny facts about work...

Your office is like your second home, so it’s probably a good idea to make it fun and cozy.
Some big and well known companies may have incredibly creative offices (remember Google Office in Zürich?), but not all of us have such good employers, so the only thing left is to create good working environment yourself.
To help you do that, we’ve picked quirky and creative things which will bring fun and inspiration back to your workplace.
Oh, and don’t forget to tell me what you chose!

Cool and Unusual Speakers

Hi, Folks...!!
It's been a while since the last the post.
How are you doing guys ??

Well many of us love to listen to songs that too loud isn't it ?? Well, it all comes down to good and excellent speakers. Well today's post contains unusual and cool speakers..

There are many important things when choosing good speakers, starting with the price, size and sound quality, and ending with your room acoustics. Every audiophile would say that choosing speakers based on what they look like is the stupidest thing to do. Basically, it’s like judging a book by its’ cover.
However, we did the opposite and handpicked 10 cool and stylish speakers based solely on their looks. Well, I’m sure there’s more than a few audiophiles who want to kill me now, but we are a design site, for God’s sake!

1. Speak-Er

A speaker is a device that converts electrical energy into sound waves. It’s also someone who expresses in language. So if you combine those two definitions together to form some sort of iconic gesture to retain both aspects, you get the Speak-er.

Even for a renowned outlet like Art Lebedev Studios, it's hard to get quirky, design-centric products out in a commercialized, race-to-the-bottom world. Far too often, dreams die at the production line, and some of the best designed gear in the world stalls on the drawing board. Somehow or another, Sherwood Forlee and Mihoko Ouchi have managed to overcome the traditional production limitations and bring this particular fantasy to life. If you'll recall, we heard about The.'s Speak-er back in January of this year, and while we knew plans were in place to start shipping 'em to end-users before the dawn of 2011, we maintained a healthy level of skepticism -- there's nothing quite as heart-wrenching as having your bubble burst after ratcheting your hopes up too high, you know? Today, we're thrilled to say that the Speak-er is now shipping to those with $99.95 to spare, and if you care to hear what we think about the most awesome set of desk speakers this planet has ever known, head right on past the break

For all intents and purposes, the Speak-er set is a rather elementary pair of desk speakers. There's a volume knob on the rear, an AC power input, and a 3.5mm audio input. This enables it to play nice with any audio source with a 3.5mm output, which is just about everything from a Nexus One to a Latitude D410 from a decade ago. We'd heard earlier that they'd be priced at $120 a pair, but right now, a Benjamin will get a pair shipped straight to your door -- or straight to the stocking of your Secret Santa, now that we think about it.

There's no bass or treble controls, so any equalizing you do has to be done at the source. We tested these out on our own desk, and found the highs and mids to be shockingly accurate and lifelike, though the lows were predictably lacking. That's not to say there wasn't any bass (read: there was!), but pushing the volume knob past the 60 percent mark generally led to muddled lows. Frankly, that's exactly what we expected from a set of 2.0 speakers with no dedicated subwoofer, but our expectations were exceeded when listening to the mids and highs. If you plan on keeping these on your workspace while maintaining a relatively sane, low volume level, they'll definitely do the trick. And they'll look way, way better than any other set of speakers you'll find for $100.

2. Moonlight Speakers

The polyethylene spheres can be used inside your living room or out on your deck to get the party mood going, streaming groovy tunes along with their energy-efficient LED light. Made with German engineering, the award winning, contemporary Moonlight Sound globes stylishly conceal integrated speakers providing up to 200 watts of crisp, clean audio combined with rich LED lights that change color with the rhythm of your music. Finally, there’s a solution to the problem of separate light and sound fixtures by combining them both – perfectly. Moonlight Sound is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use whether entertaining at home, for weddings and special events, glamorous nightclubs, luxury residences, four-star resorts, shopping malls, virtually anywhere.

Available as either a hanging pendant globe or a versatile portable globe, Moonlight Sound comes in three output levels: 120 watts, 150 watts and 200 watts and three diameters: 13.75 inches, 21.5 inches and a giant 29.5 inches. Moonlight Sound globes are virtually indestructible, made from a shatterproof polyethylene plastic that’s weatherproof, resists UV light exposure and temperature extremes from 40°F below zero to 170° F. All of the components are safely housed within the globe for protection from harsh elements. (Designer: Moonlight USA)

3. Woofer Speakers

These woofers hold the midst between an addition to your sound system and your loyal 4 footed companion. They are engineered by a professional audio studio, and sound remarkably well.

This is functional kitsch; the wrong becomes the new right. By adding a function to an otherwise grotesque object, it acquires new aesthetic values, becoming an object of desire. Pun intended; these woofers hold the midst between an addition to your sound system and your loyal 4 footed companion. They are engineered by a professional audio studio, and sound remarkably well. Available as a co-axial speaker system [two dogs].

4. Pig Speakers

Japan’s I.D.E.A. has created a new set of free-standing speakers that resemble cute little pigs. Available in white, black, gold, or pink, the ceramic objects have a built in circular speaker in their bellies and an audio jack where the tail would have been to connect your ipod or mp3 player. (Designer: I.D.E.A.)

5. MegaPhone

A ceramic form, simple and organic in shape, is gently contoured and designed to amplify and optimize sound output.

Portable ceramic passive amplifier for iPhone. The shape is designed to amplify and optimize sound output at its best. After the success of Megaphone, en&is design focuses on Megaphonemini. The intention is to create a small and compact object that amplifies the sound with the same Megaphone acoustics, which can be placed in any house corner and can be easily moved. Megaphonemini can be safely carried in your bag or backpack, ideal for listening to music at park during a picnic or at the beach while tanning, without any electrical supply.

The project starts from a reflection on the use of technology, requirement almost essential today in many objects surrounding us.The technology is now inside everything, energy is consumed to produce objects, to make them operate as well as to dismiss them right soon after. With Megaphonemini we wanted to create an absolutely low-tech product which let us reflect on the importance of things, and on the potential value carried by everything which that surrounds us.

This is in sharp contrast with the technological object for excellence, the mobile phone, widely used and sometimes a status symbol – as iPhone. To emphasize this “return to roots” we choose a traditional material from the ancient working era, ceramic. It is a glass material that enhances the transmission of sound.

So man goes back to the discovering of reality surrounding him, begins to deeply study what he has got in order to make the most of it, and smiles in front of a “magic” result. Let’s say “magic” since, as soon as iPhone is placed on top of Megaphonemini, the effect it generates is truly amazing. We are no longer used to magic of nature, nor magic of simplicity.

Megaphonemini wants to draw a smile of astonishment to people – and to make them think about the value of what they have.
Compatibile con iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G/3GS, iPhone 4/4S iPhone 5, iPod Touch (dalla seconda generazione in poi) con custodia.(Designer: en&is)

About En&Is
en&is was born of a collaboration between Enrico Bosa, product and interior designer, and Isabella Lovero, product and jewelery designer. Both graduated in Industrial Design from Milano Politecnico, specializing in product design. In 2004 they began working on design in Milan at the international offices of Luca Trazzi, Stefano Giovannoni, Sector Group, and Swarovski Internazionale d’Italia where they were responsible for large-scale projects of interior design, home furniture accessories, and other accessories. The firm’s activities started in 2007, ranging from market analysis to defining concepts, to project engineering, and graphic design analysis of media for launching products to the market. Their approach to projects is aimed at creating poetic objects that tell something to those who observe them, creating a little magic with their designs so as to make every room, place, or environment an enjoyable place to be.

6. 500 XL

Sometimes bigger IS really better, especially when it comes to sound. That's why we took a puny pair of earbuds, put them in Fred's highly technical Way Big machine, and created 500XL - it's 500 times the size of the original! How great will these look on your desktop alongside your mp3 player or PC? 500XL includes a built-in amp and 3-way power. It runs on batteries, you can connect it to any USB port, or plug it in with any generic power supply, not included. Stand-up peggable display packaging. (Designer: Fred&Friends)

7.  Soundhive

Hive is a simulated surround sound speaker system. As of now the market only has two options – either spread speakers around the room for the real experience or invest in a sound bar which usually consists of a long bar housing anywhere between 8-30 small speakers pointing in every direction for a simulated experience.

The Hive takes the latter approach but adds in a bit of design since sound bars are pretty boring. The hexagonal honey comb pattern is graphic, bold, and each cell can pivot or turn for a truly customized audible experience. And don’t worry about messy cables or cords. The Hive only has 2 at most – one for power, and one to connect to your home entertainment system. (Designer: Oskar Daniel)

8.  Magic Spheres

In order to have a more enjoying music, make around space harmonious with your favorite music.Disco comes home with these shimmy speaker spheres that hang on the walls like a mural or artwork. Adorable and very sexy, the lights patterns displayed by the set go in sync with the rhythm and beats of the music being played. Beyond awesome is the graphic bars representation that corresponds to the equalizer of the speakers. The woofers coordinate perfectly with either your PC or Home Theater and put on an amazing lights and sound show for you.
A ring-sized finger-touch controller helps you navigate the setup. Using this controller you can even do the usual stuff of play/pause/rewind etc. and manipulate your PC/ HT. (Designer: Morteza Faghihi)

9. Hangin/Bowlin

This is a simple speaker with three speaker elements in one 20 cm diameter ball or globe. It voices out in every direction so there is no need to try to direct it, thus visually it can be this simple. It can be either hanging from the ceiling or just standing on a table. The case could me just plastic mesh or covered with textured fabric.
(Designer: Sanne Salovaara)

10.  Hearring

'HEARRING' is about taking the concept of 'urban lifestyle' to the next level. The idea was to define a new category of 'urban jewelry'. We wanted to shake off the bulky appearance of metal and plastic and transform it to an elegant piece of ornament. The crystal functions as the 'call control button', using the crystal clarity to represent the earphone status by different colors. (Designer: Kfir Schwalb Kfir)
